From the Rider’s seat:
Already missing the summer!? Hopefully there will be some drier days ahead that will permit a few more rides.
It was a nice turnout at the October club meeting with a few bikes outside. Thank you very much Paul and Judy Sherbo for a very enjoyable time at the Fall party. Several club members met at the World of Speed museum in Wilsonville and then drove/rode over to Paul and Judy’s place for a combined Northwest Galaxie & Oregon Norton Enthusiasts club Fall BBQ. Several other club members joined us at Paul’s place. Here are a few clips.
Congratulations Paul Bilton-Smith. As you may know, Paul smashed the land
speed records at Bonneville. There will be more information to follow soon regarding Paul’s epic adventure! Please click this the link to Paul’s video of the accomplishment:
Unfortunately, the Latus Vintage Bike show was canceled last minute due to the weather. Poor Steve Millard rode his BSA lightning there only to find that the bike show was cancelled!
David Kendell, Greg Blaisdell, Jeff Marsh, Sam Justice and Steve Millard participated in the recent DGR (Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride) and it sounds like everyone had a good time.
We still have a few size large club T- Shirts remaining if you are interested. Just let me know.
In other news, Florin has been spending time on his Dominator bike, mocking it up with his beautiful alloy gas tank and seat. Mike Roberts recently received some good feedback concerning his kick starter that was catching his muffler. And Doug Towsley and Jimmy Jones keep the club members updated with regular emails.
Our club website has a new look. The previous server host withdrew certain services and we needed to quickly find a new host. Thank you Dave for scrambling to find a replacement solution
so quickly and for “standing up” our new and improved website. We hope you will like the newer look and feel. You may notice that it also contains a direct feed from our Facebook page. The website address hasn’t changed and can be found at the same address as before (http://oregonnorton.org/). Dave performed his magic behind the scenes and redirected to the new site. We will continue to develop the site going forward. Please note that our Yahoo email distribution system is still the same.
For anyone who might be interested, following the November club meeting, we’ll have our AGM (Annual General Meeting), during which we’ll have a quick recap of 2016, hear from our Treasurer and other Officers and vote on all the officer positions for 2017. If anyone has any interest in any of the positions or would like to raise a topic for the AGM, please do let us know.
As always, please let us know if you have any ideas for Norton or other vintage motorcycle-related events that you think the guys will enjoy.
Happy riding!
Cheers
Mike, President
